A tight contest between 2 closely matched teams; however North Star held the edge throughout the game. Hugh Barbour got off to a quick start for North Star scoring early with 2 free throws to go with several clean jump shots. Blaze responded with scores from Seamus Hickey from distance to include a buzzer beater to end the first and third quarters.
North Star’s inside game took precedence as the game progressed as McLaughlin and McGuinness combined for 30 in the low post. Aodhan Hickey continued to work hard for Blaze as the clock became a factor with a last second three and North Star continued their impressive undefeated home form.

Blackstone had trouble getting started in this game as North Star jumped out to a 20 -5 lead as Kevin Stanley and Hugh Barbour led the charge for North Star. The roles where reversed in the Second quarter as Blackstone’s Connelly hit 4 threes in the quarter and an impressive 18 points to tie the game at 33 for the half.
Some defensive adjustments in the second half allowed North Star to regain an eight point cushion. They also began to force the ball to the interior were Blackstone lacked size and Neil McLaughlin scored at will. This combined with Ryan Hasson’s 3 three point field goals in the fourth quarter allowed North Star to run out comfortable winners.
